Rosemarie Fiore  (b. 1972, New York, United States) lives and works in Bronx, NY.  She typically produces artwork out of the actions of mechanisms.  She converts popular technology such as lawn mowers, cars, waffle irons, floor polishers, pinball machines, fireworks and amusement park rides into painting machines. How cool is that!

Hanna Werning

Hanna Werning work as an independent designer across disciplines such as communication design, product design, visual arts and illustration, self-initiated and commissioned work. Since 2004, she has been running her own company Spring Street Studio in Stockholm, Sweden. The name comes from her time living in London where she was educated a graphic designer at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design.

Hanna has a strong fascination for patterns and colours and has been designing prints, wallpapers, textile, porcelain etc for Boråstapeter, Rörstrand, IKEA, Sagaform, Eastpak, Anna Sui and House of Dagmar. She is also the designer and manufacture of her own product AnimalFlowers wallpaper-posters.

"The world around us is becoming increasingly immaterial. We are now used to write emails instead of letters, to pay online, to download music and touch virtual buttons on touch screens. We live in a society of images, a visual culture full of colours, advertisements, television and the internet. There is not much left to feel. Giving importance to surfaces that are desirable to touch can reconnect us with the material world and enhance the emotional value of an object.

We are used to experience wood as a hard material; we know the feeling of walking across wooden floors, to touch a wooden tabletop or to feel the bark of a tree. Teo Pirisi

Teo Pirisi, aka Moneyless, is an Italian-born artist, who has made the country his home since his birth in 1980. The artist grew up as a member of the 90’s graffiti scene in Tuscany, which he attributes to the development of his artistic identity. Pirisi further devolped his signature geometric style through his studies at Multimedia and Communication Design at Carrara Fine Art Academy and Isia in Florence, respectively.

By combining his graffiti and fine art backgrounds, the artist has been able to develop a unique style of geometric art.

Can a bike erase everything that a car has done? Leo Burnett Lisbon decided to find out the answer to this challenging question with its new project CARMA for B-Bicycle Culture Magazine, a quarterly magazine about the passion for cycling. For this project, Rcicla Bicletas built a bicycle out of the scrap of a retired Mercedes hoping that the heavy karma of the car could be rebalanced by riding the same number of kilometres in a greener way: just by cyclin. 

HEARD•NY by Nick Cave & The Ailey School

HEARD•NY is an installation and performance piece which will be presented from Monday 25 March till Sunday 31 March, 2013, as part of a series of events celebrating Grand Central Terminal’s centennial.

With his debut public art project in New York City, artist Nick Cave will transform Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall into a pasture for a grazing herd of 30 fantastical life-size horses. Accompanied by live music, sixty dance students from The AILEY School will don Cave’s celebrated ‘Soundsuits’ and perform specially choreographed ‘crossings’ at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. every day.

Prada's parallel universes

Prada parallel universes is an exercise that grows out of the drive to experiment with, and to match, new communications media and prada’s semiotics; to be consistent with the present without nostalgia.

This dreamlike yet virtual story was entrusted to the Armenian born illustrator Vahram Muratyan. Through his adopted city of Paris, Vahram recently came into the limelight for his newly published book paris vs new york, a work of art which compares the two great cities with graphic signs exploring their different similarities.

Parallel Universes

Carnovsky, aka the artist/designer' duo Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla, are famous for their RGB love and exploration of the ''surface’s deepness''.  By overlapping three different images, each one in a primary color – in RED, GREEN and BLUE, the blend of lines, shapes and colors is unexpectedly beautiful and surrealistic. The final result of this colorful mix resembles an experience that is so alive that it is akin to watching a 3D picture with special 3D glasses, where reality blends with fantasy. They recently decided to translate their RGB principles from interior to fashion producing a limited edition of silk scarves, which are digitally printed, numbered and signed.

Andrew Huang

Andrew Huang is a Los Angeles based commercial and music video director who graduated with a degree in Fine Art and Animation from the University of Southern California. After his dark sci-fi short film called ''Doll Face'' which went viral on YouTube, numerous films, and awards followed and his worked has been featured at Cannes Emerging Filmmaker Showcase, SIGGRAPH's Electronic Theater, the Annecy International Film Festival, MOCA Taipei, ZKM Media Museum, as well as the latest 2012 Slamdance Film Festival where he proudly won the Special Jury Prize for Experimental Short category with his 'SOLIPSIST film which according to the jury won this category ''for its unique blend of live action footage of the human body, puppetry and computer animation that creates a colourful and insightful fantasy world.'' SOLIPSIST is a three part psychedelic fantasy short film about otherworldly beings whose minds and bodies converge into one entity. Filled with elaborate costumes by Lindsey Mortensen, visual effects, and underwater puppets, the film is a non-narrative experience designed to transport viewers through a hypnotic, dream-like journey...FULL Screen recommended!

Philips Design Probes is a dedicated ‘far-future’ research initiative to track trends and developments that may ultimately evolve into mainstream issues that have a significant impact on business.

The Design Probes program was established to generate insights and explore far-future lifestyle scenarios based on rigorous research in a wide range of areas. Probes projects are intended to understand future socio-cultural and technological shifts with a view to developing nearer-term scenarios. These scenario explorations are often carried out in collaboration with experts and thought leaders in different fields, culminating in a ‘provocation’ designed to spark discussion and debate around new ideas and lifestyle concepts.

Xavier Barrade

Dry the River created these huge paper-craft horse posters in collaboration with FOAM creative Xavier Barrade. This short film shows the posters being crafted and fly-posted. Xavier designed the horses in 3D with Google Sketch Up before printing out and assembling the component parts. Each horse took around 35 hours to build. It Definitely caused a reaction from passer byes!

Within these is an exploration of every aspect of the industry, from production of raw materials, through manufacturing and sale, to use and end of life. The scenarios are not intended to be predictions or visions of desired futures. They look at how global trends may change our world and the consumer goods industry, and how sustainable products, services and business models could become mainstream.

Researcher Asta Roseweay and her team’s aimed to design a dress to visualized with the use of wearable technology developments the old-meets-new and how this could possibly influences the future of fashion.

The result is a dress made almost entirely of paper, symbolizing the past and connects with todays wearable technology and communication forms like tweets. ‘The Printing Dress’ visualizes the constant flow of our always-online, continuous stream of messages.
