ABOUT THE FOUNDER

After completing his MA in textile design at the Royal College of Art, Kit Miles formed his own studio, steeped in the values of quality, exquisite draughtsmanship and a futuristic, often surprising use of scale colour and imagery.

One of the most important values at Kit Miles is excellence in quality and draughtsmanship in each and every design.

The studios ability to render fine and at times surrealist imagery have enabled Miles to form a unique language of design, under the core ethos that freedom to evolve and re-form is ever present in the application of marks onto paper.

The process of hand drawing enables the studio to render an imaginative and ‘super-real’ world into a reality, revealing a glimpse into the ever expanding printed universe of dynamic shapes and images.

Pernille Snedker Hansen

Pernille Snedker Hansen is the creator of Snedker Studio, she is a designer and artist who challenges how we look at the surfaces around us. Created one drop at the time and resembling a tree growth rings, Pernilles technique responds to naturally occurring patterns. A culmination of years of experimentation and development, Pernille has re-purposed the traditional craft of marbling. She has among others received a Wallpaper Design Award in 2012 and exhibits her work in conjunction with the Danish Crafts Council.

Elisa Strozyk

"The world around us is becoming increasingly immaterial. We are now used to write emails instead of letters, to pay online, to download music and touch virtual buttons on touch screens. We live in a society of images, a visual culture full of colours, advertisements, television and the internet. There is not much left to feel. Giving importance to surfaces that are desirable to touch can reconnect us with the material world and enhance the emotional value of an object. 
'Wooden Textiles' convey a new tactile experience. We are used to experience wood as a hard material; we know the feeling of walking across wooden floors, to touch a wooden tabletop or to feel the bark of a tree. Fanette G

French Artist Fanette G using a mix of photography and art installation (no photoshop involved!) to create these optical illusions. Painted on abandoned buildings and later photographed from different angles to trick your eye into thinking those are 3D object floating in the room, uses a modern-art-meets-vintage-interiors approach.

Mathieu Lehanneur

Graduated from ENSCI-Les Ateliers (French National School for Industrial Design) in 2001, Mathieu Lehanneur opened that same year his own studio dedicated to industrial design and interior architecture. Very soon has he been developing a real passion for interactions between the body and its environment, living systems and the scientific world.

Mathieu Lehanneur

Dan Funderburgh

Dan Funderburgh is a Brooklyn-based illustrator, artist, and wallpaper designer whose creations are rooted in the world of decorative arts. Dan was born in Seattle and reared in the Midwest, receiving a BFA from the University of Kansas with a focus in illustration. Dan's personal and gallery work includes letterpress and screen prints, sculptures and installations that play off of historical ornamentation. Revealing an acute appreciation for both the baroque and utilitarian, Dan's work often combines the language of ornament with objects that surround us.

Carnovsky, aka the artist/designer' duo Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla, are famous for their RGB love and exploration of the ''surface’s deepness''.  By overlapping three different images, each one in a primary color – in RED, GREEN and BLUE, the blend of lines, shapes and colors is unexpectedly beautiful and surrealistic. The final result of this colorful mix resembles an experience that is so alive that it is akin to watching a 3D picture with special 3D glasses, where reality blends with fantasy. They recently decided to translate their RGB principles from interior to fashion producing a limited edition of silk scarves, which are digitally printed, numbered and signed.

People Will Always Need Plates is the creation of Hannah Dipper and Robin Farquhar.

Launched in 2004, they aim to use high quality, low volume batch production to create witty, thoughtful and stylish products as a direct antithesis to the current proliferation of cheap, throwaway design. In keeping with their credo that good design should be used and enjoyed, treasured and shared, Hannah and Robin try to develop products that, while diverse in style and application, always retain the fundamental values of functionality and beauty.
